So we all know the Oscar's were last night (well most of us). For the most part, I thought the nominations were best original score were spot on, much better than what as been chosen for previous years. I was, however, once again dissapointed on who the academy chose to win. I felt like Tin Tin and Hugo were the two best and most original scores written last year. Granted, I did not see the artist, so this anyone can challenge my opinion.

Best Song?

Secondly, it's kind of sad to see the same names nominated over and over and over. John Williams, Howard Shore, Hanz Zimmer, John Powell, etc. have consistently been nominated year and after year, and while I understand that they are extremely good at what they do, I wonder if it's because directors tend to stick primarely with the big names. I thought Harry Potter would have been nominated and won more awards than it did. I agreed with the academy, though, as I felt the film was good but not spectacular.

What are you thoughts?

To be honest, I've only seen Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy... although, we have plans to see The Artist soon.

That said - the music in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was
