Sonata for two violins - For Kaja and Ana

Featured Replies

It's been a while since I have uploaded something new. Here is my Sonata for two violins. It was designed for here presented twins Kaja and Ana Sesek, very talented violinists. At the age of 15, they are winners and prize holders of many competitions. This is, of course a fine source of inspiration. The Sonata is in four movements. The first is presented as an introduction with constant increase of pace. The second movement is a waltz, simple and melodic while presenting some challenging efforts for violinists. After the third movement which is a floating intermezzo there is a finale which shows signs of folkish playing and elemental energy.

I will not deny some Bartokian influences but this Sonata is, at least to me, one of my better achievements in recent years.

Absolutely brilliant. There's a drama that runs all throughout this piece, and each moment is thrilling in its own way to me. I particularly like the hints of folk style in the fourth movement. And what talented players!

im currently studying violin writing, and I think I might be able to learn a thing or two from what you've written here.
