5 Pieces for a JRPG

Recommended Posts

Here are 5 pieces for a game I intend to score:

Piece #1: Random batttle music.

Piece #2: Victory music.

Piece #3: Main character's theme.

Piece #4: Dramatic scene music.

Piece #5: Music for the final scenes.

Thanks!

Thanks! There's more where that came from.

Here are two more pieces:

Piece #6: Fast-paced scene music.

Piece #7: Boss batttle music.

--------edit--------

Piece #8: Sad scene music.

Here's another sad theme. It is the follow-up to a very horrendous piece that I wrote (titled "piece"). This piece was a bit rushed... but I think it has a nice melody.

Oh and btw, it's a little over 2 years old.

Hi Sine.  Is this a pre-existing RPG that somebody created and you're writing the music for or are you writing your own RPG?  The music is very nice.  I guess it's low-key because the battle theme doesn't sound very battle-y and the victory music is almost sad.  But maybe that's your intention if the game's overall mood is sad.  The main hero's theme does sound heroic and epic in places though.  The operatic scene is surprising.  It's bittersweet the way you change between major and minor.  The music for the final scenes is very sad as well.  There's almost no sense that the characters in your RPG win the game.  Maybe that's part of the story-line, I don't know.  Nice use of solo timpani though.

The fast paced scene music definitely feels more tense.  The boss battle music sounds more battle-y than the earlier piece.  It's more upbeat and chromatic in a minor way with a touch of flat2 and flat5 which is appropriate.  The sad scene music is almost hopeful at times as well.  I like your instrumentation in this one - nice use of acoustic guitar and bass.

Your final piece is a nice violin melody.  Is this one also intended for your RPG?  It does kinda sound like it could be used as a characters theme.  Harp and violin is a nice combination and totally sufficient for the feeling you're trying to create.  I don't know what was horrendous about the original version but this version is very mellow.  Thanks for sharing!  I also hope to someday write an RPG and compose my own music to it.  If you have time check out my piece "Supra-Athletic Fanfare" in the Orchestral Works forum (also - it's my first composition that I've posted and I'm not sure if everything is working correctly with the mp3 player - I could use some feedback if you have the time)

Thanks for the feedback, PaperComposer! Very good advice!

Anyways... I can't reveal much about the game, as it is currently in the planning stages.

And I tried to listen to your piece, but the mp3 player didn't work for me either. Which is unfortunate because I would love to hear it!

Also, I wrote a piece this morning, but I don't know what it could be used for. Maybe you (or someone else) could give me an honest opinion...?

Thanks for your input about my piece.  The mp3 player looks broken when I view my post and I still don't know why.  I wrote a report about it so hopefully it will get resolved.  I also just added a link to download the mp3 if you're still interested.

About your orchestral piece:  To me it sounds regal and epic so you might use it in a castle or some kind of coronation scene.  It is very good and sounds very full.  Nice job.
