September 12, 20214 yr Im not sure this is a waltz, I can't imagine dancing to this music because waltzes are composed with the bass in 1/4 notes with the mm-BAP-BAP rhythm with one chord per bar. However this is a beautiful piece of music and is very expressive. I listened to it a couple of times. It has quite a few errors in terms of musical grammar but on the whole its well put together. It hear a baroque influence in places and in others a more modern harmony. Just remember when you compose for the piano the hand can only comfortably stretch to an octave, the chord in the final bar is not playable. Well done, and thanks for sharing!
September 12, 20214 yr The melody works very well, it works fine except maybe m 24 where the rhythm could use a little more work. Some phrases also repeat the same notes with or without the same rhythm and the ending notes could need some more variation, like 19, 20, 22 the phrases all end in A, perhaps you should consider varying these; having one end in the third, one on the fifth and the final on the root note or something like that. The rhythmic and polyphonic texture of the parts is mostly okay but the piece may need to change harmonics in some places. It could be in the bass line or the middle part. Good luck

Ty I didn't really think of a typical waltz, the scene I imagined a couple informally dancing late at night in a bar/pub but I wasn't sure what the name of the dance could be

When my music isn't in any particular form I use Italian tempo words such as, andante, allegro but you can also use Italian words that indicate mood such as grazioso, dolce etc. This website below lists the words. I would describe your piece as adagio affettuoso which means slow and with feeling. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Italian_musical_terms_used_in_English I listened to your piece a few more times, bars 8 to 11 are really beautiful and the last few bars too. The falling chromatic bass line is really good.
