Scherzo in A-minor

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am posting a short Scherzo, which I recently completed.  It was great fun to experiment with some chromatics and dissonances,

I am very curious to know what you think of it.

.

Nice job!  It's a great entertaining piece of music that could stand alone as a concert-piece or as background music for some kind of intriguing scene in a movie where some kind of development is transpiring.  I get why you're calling it a scherzo because it's like a little humorous piece that's almost like a trifle or a joke although usually scherzi tend to be faster and utilize more surprising dynamics.  But I have written scherzi myself that didn't have those characteristics so can't really hold you to that.  Question - is Grieg's "Anitra's Dance" one of the inspirations for this piece?  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks a lot Peter for your comments. I am glad that you enjoyed the piece. It is true that a Scherzo usually goes in a very fast tempo, but I could not come up with a better alternative title for this piece.

I like your comment about “Anitra´s Dance” (a clever association!). It could quite well have been a source of inspiration for me, but I never thought about it. In fact, the whole piece just came out of the blue.
