Colourblind - A short piano piece

Another simplistic and semi minimalistic piece I wrote. It's in simple binary form with simple harmony. The purpose of writing this is for mainly practicing 4 part harmony writing and also as a way to cope with depression. Constructive feedback is warmly welcome

Your treatment of the voices works well, alternating between parallel, contrary and oblique motion. Solid four-part writing, I think. Also really nice to listen to. Simple as you sought it to be, but without being overly repetetive and with a nice sense of breath in the melody.

Definitely more than an exercise in four-part writing. How long did this take you?

It took me a little more than 3 hours to compose. Thanks for asking

It really feels like a comfort to listen to. The rhythm is consistent yet varied enough. The 32th are a nice ornamentation rhytmically and melodically (at a certain place you make them into 16th which is a simple yet clever variation). Why did you choose for this title? 

I can only hear for myself a bit of a problem with the end. Maybe this is just subjective but to strike the chord twice doesn't feel like a conclusive end to me. I don't have a good solution tho.

I really like this piece as well.  The score vid kept my attention throughout and was interesting to hear.  I like how you play around with implying the parallel minor (G# minor) but are really in B major.  As far as the ending goes, from my perspective there are three options that could make it sound more conclusive.  Instead of just repeating the chord again, you could 1) change the register of the chord (higher for the right hand and lower for the left for instance is a common option) 2) change the chord to G# minor to further play with the dual tonality that you established from the beginning of the piece or 3) a combination of these two options.  Thanks for sharing - it was a pleasure to hear!

Once again thank you for listening and commenting on this one. Means a lot! I think it is quite a fantastic idea that you suggested there. It would have surely made the ending more conclusive and interesting! In fact I think I will modify the ending of the piece to do just that. Thanks again 🙂
