February 19, 20233 yr Hello, i think my brahms fav is his 51 exersises for piano, the idea for variations is omnious enough.😃
February 19, 20233 yr I don't know much of Brahms's Piano variations at all but I like his Variations on a Theme by Schumann, op.9 since I like the double variation plan and do study it. His Variations on a Theme by Handel is freaking difficult however. Which one is your favourite though @Gyugcac?? Henry
February 22, 20233 yr The 42a and 42b is my favorite, here is the youtube link so you may have a listen. I think Brahms was hitting on some sort of cosmic idea yet on a very mature level.
February 24, 20233 yr Hello again, my fave of the Brahms Schumann variations is the 12th, but also the 14th. As well as the 15th which is very similar to Ennio Morricone’s Playing love from the movie The legend of 1900. Overall these variations are very profound. Those canonic variations are amazing since they are strict but at the same time very romantic and touching instead of calculating the intervals!
February 24, 20233 yr I guess many ways to produce a cohesive & substantial musical output. Thanks Henri!
