First movement sonata-allegro on clavichord

Recommended Posts

If you meant for this to be more of a classical era piece then why didn't you perform this on piano?  I think it would have been much more soothing and pleasant in comparison to this unwieldy clavichord version.  I think because of the plucking action of the clavichord many of the rhythms end up sounding uneven because the clavichord is so hard to control.  Even despite that I can tell that this is a decently written sonata movement with much thematic and contrapuntal interest and contrast.  Great job and thanks for sharing!

well I think it's just primarily my playing that's uneven and not so much the instrument (but thank you for giving me the benefit of the doubt), although the instrument isn't perfect and his some serious quirks.  the first reason for the clavichord is that pianos are loud and i live in an apartment - the second is that an unfretted clavichord is more historical to the classical era than a modern piano, and i don't have any access to a piano or fortepiano modeled after the 18th century ones - not that the historical nature is a serious consideration on my part but I felt that the music was reasonably appropriate for clavichord, and being that claivhcord is the instrumnet i play the most, i should probably consider it to be my main instrument even though harpsichord is better for a lot of what i do.  Anyways I appreciate that someone gave it a listen as well as feedback 😀
