September 19, 20223 yr What is the style of this piece? I think the opening melody is quite wide-ranging. jumping from high A to low C sharp and back to high register. The imitation between flute and violin I can be more funny, instead of just repeating the same note. Also the harmony can be more varied with other chords other than d minor, its dominant and F major. I guess this is only the beginning of the piece and can be further developed, instead of ending abruptly here. It can be for sure extended to a longer piece.
November 7, 20223 yr In meas. 7 you have just a momentary passing F# in the flute and violin I but all the other instruments are playing F naturals (a wrong sounding cross-relation). And you're outlining a G minor chord there. But it's kinda really weakly implied harmony and sounds wrong when unsupported by changes in the other (lower) voices. The previous measure was F major and the lower voices continue hammering away on that F throughout meas. 7 implying that the harmony should stay the same. Then meas. 8 is back to F major again. Even if you had established the G minor harmony in meas. 7 as intended, it would still be a weak harmonic motion to move from the ii chord back to I. In the classical period the ii was expected to be a pre-dominant chord, so V would usually follow.
