Experimental piece (Japanese/African fusion)

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Just wanted to share a piece I wrote this week on GarageBand, and Music Studio for iPad.

I've tried to fuse African drum beats with the Japanese koto.

I've also used the Japanese scale setting on GarageBand to create the piano intro and outro.

Not really sure if the piano sections fit comfortably with the rest of the piece?

Perhaps I should split the work into two separate pieces?

I think the only think that doesn't fit comfortably to me is the absence of piano once the transition is done. The contrast is good, but in the moments when strings appear I would have added the piano too, but this is just my opinion. Apart from that I do not see anything wrong here and the mix is cool. I don't think you should split it =).

Kind regards,
Daniel–Ømicrón.

Thanks Daniel, I think that's a good suggestion.

I have already composed a separate piece using the same piano intro and outro.

It's posted here under the title "Magical Faun".
