Moon Atmos: Please Use Headphones-If Possible :)

Featured Replies

Hi guys, Mars Tiger's here again!. I am releasing my 2nd track, which is called the Moon Atmos, due to its dreamy reverb style. Anyways, I have tried out making an EDM style music, which features a lot of synth chord arpeggios, and energetic EDM kicks and Acoustic Ambient Claps. I have made my song from Ableton Live 11. Please do listen, and comment your valuable feedback, which will help me get better in my skills. Cheers

Sorry...I don't know what EDM means, I know it's a google search away but I don't think I'll be useful in that regard. I like the ambient created, the kind of heart beat, etc. up to 0:40-ish. The abrupt transition is something that I would like but turns out I didn't because it sounded so typical of other electronic music I've listened either intentionally or by accident. Everything from 0:40 on is givin' me a kind of generic feeling, not because of the SFX and virtual instruments chosen (perhaps because some of those) but because of the harmony, most likely.

I don't think there's any issue with this particular theme, don't get me wrong, it's just me so no worries, perhaps that was the intention (again I'm still clueless on  what EDM means). But in case you do feel anything similar, don't be afraid of adding more variation to the unavoidable ostinatos and harmonic —usually simple— patterns this kind of music always tends to generate. In my humble opinion, the first 40 seconds had personality and I liked those above all. An overall flaw that I see on this kind of music (not on any particular composer, just basing on my experience listening to similar themes here and there including on YC) is that it's either too pointless and experimental or too inflexible to the point it gets very predictable and thus, generic, which is not necessarily bad, it just is to my mind lol. If you happen to share any of these views remotely or to find my feedback somewhat insightful, which I doubt in this case, trying to find the equilibrium between those two things might not be an horrible idea.

Thank you for sharing, keep composing...Ah, and of course I used headphones :).

Kind regards!

@Omicronrg9, thanks for using headphones!

Anyways, glad to know that you found the first 40s interesting, because I myself wanted to create a feel-good ambience for the first 40s. However, after the first 40s, I wanted to create that walker-vibe because, I was inspired by his style, when I was making this beat. So, this music was just me getting introduced to the basic style of the Electronic Dance Music - or EDM. I thought, after I tried something like this, I can go on to experiment with other ways of making this more interesting, and not trying to make the main portion a bit generic - like you said.
