Alex Weidmann
Very nice piece! I enjoyed the slow dramatic build up in the first movement, and the beautiful luminescent ambience of the pianissimo passages in the third and fourth movements. Imagined myself floating through space! The score was illegible on my iPad; but maybe would look ok on a large TV screen.
PeterthePapercomPoser
I wish I could see the instrumentation in this piece. Not sure what instrument you're using at the beginning of movement 3 - it sounds like maybe some kind of organ or a pitched percussion instrument bowed with a violin bow or something. Or it's some kind of glass instrument. Anyway - I really love the timbre and sound quality there - it's very otherworldly. I'm puzzled why movement 3 is called "Alone" when it sounds so triumphant and even glorious throughout. Overall I loved the concept and execution of this piece. Great job! Henry Ng Tsz Kiu
Can't believe it's written within a day! As @PeterthePapercomPoser said, the timbre and sound quality is otherworldly. That's really effectively and skillfully written! The buildup in the first movement, as @Alex Weidmann noted, is great and well-prepared. I particularly like the "Also Sprach Zarathustra" quotation at around 08:20 in the third movement--Is the quotation inspired by Kubrick's 2001 Space Odyssey? I notice that the name of movement is "Contact" here and "Echoes" in the youtube timeline. Is there any reason for the different names? I would also like to have the pdf version of the score! The orchestration is fascinating and it can for sure benefit all of us to study your score. What a nice job you have done within a day!!!
