(Lovers lane) Something new I’m working on…again

Recommended Posts

This was supposed to be a piano concerto, but I don’t think it’s that anymore. I would like some input on percussion, and just the overall flow of the song before I finish it. The ending is gonna sound a little different, I know it sounds mellow but it will change. Any constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated. Background on the song, the title makes the song about love but I also want the overall feeling to be hopeful and optimistic.

I put the muse score recording and just a regular one. (I like the link better)

I guess it's just my bad internet, but the score doesn't properly load on musescore. I only see the title. Would you mind putting it here?

Sounds potent, but after one min that power seems more overwhelming than positively impacting. Things do improve after 2:20 though there seem to be lots of room for improvement on the dynamics field, I think this, plus some more effort in handling the powerful intro and using it to properly open a comfortable path for the next passages that sound from decent to very good would greatly improve the piece. Perhaps this sounds vague or ambiguous. It might be that I don't know a thing about orchestration or that just my way with words in English is not good at all. But in summary, I see lots of potential here and the percussion is actually good. Perhaps some tremolos that you sometimes do (perhaps they're called in a different way when they are done in percussion, drum rolls perhaps) need a "boom" at its end. I don't think it's a bad idea to abandon percussion at the end of the piece either.

Now that the score did load, if you intend this to be played by some orchestra someday, let me tell you that the strict tempo markings that change from bar to bar could perhaps be replaced (not playback-wise but engraving-wise) by accel./rit. expressions.

Overall I liked it and I think I agree, the one uploaded to musescore sounds better.

Thank you for sharing!

Kind regards,
Daniel–Ømicrón.
