Luciano Berio: Where Classical Music Meets an Acid Trip!

One of his works that utterly captivated me was his 'kind of 'concrète'' piece Omaggio a Joyce, in that it's Cathy Berberian reading. In Berio's own words it bridged the spectrum from language to poetry to pure sound. The recording doesn't work too well on headphones because it lacks crossfeed - probably more difficult in 1958 with limitations of what could be done (and reproduced in stereo) at the time. If your headphone amp has crossfeed, turn it up to about 30%.
