January 31, 20233 yr This piece is mostly based in D Major however changes key a little bit, it has moments in G major and even some moments in E Major. I am trying to think of a different type of finish than what I usually compose, this composition finishes in G Major a bit differently, it builds up using the maj4 chord and then the maj5 chord or a dominant 7 chord that then resolves to G major a little bit awkwardly for my own composition but it does resolve in the end. Thanks.

I actually don't find any moments of this piece in D major at all. For me, it begins on B flat major, in 0:18 modulates to D flat major, 0:50 to A flat major, 1:13 to B major, 20:09 to E major, and suddenly it modulates to G major in 2:53 and ends on it. Maybe just cancel the " in G major" of the piece's title will be fine! I think the structure of the piece is not coherent enough. I don't have the score here, but by listening I think I am listening to many episodes simply put together with sharp cut perfect cadence. The emergence of D flat major in 0:18 and G major in 2:53 are really abrupt for me and seem unrelated to the previous sections. I think you should add more harmonic fill ups between them as in the middle parts when the modulation is smoother. You modulate to Ab major by means of dominant chord, B major by means of G flat major, E major by means of subdominant chord, which are all good for me! The melody isn't too memorable for me either in each sections. There's also some weird sounds in the recording, e.g. in 0:10 there's a clash of F and E in the violin, and in 2:16 the bass gives me a feeling of rushing. I don't know anything about DAW at all but that's my impression. Hopefully these personal critiques can help you a little bit! Thanks for sharing! Henry

Regarding the piece itself, it sounds very nice, though I again feel a lack of variation in the intensity, not in the melodic motives though! That final modulation to G Major didn't convince me too much, as well as some transitions from theme to theme, but if it's right to you let it be then! Perhaps this would be more a miniature than a full concerto but who am I to discuss names. The ending gave me mixed feelings. Keep experimenting. Nonetheless, it was a good piece, like the majority you produce. On a final note, I noticed that you often (if not always) put "Composed by Tom Dahlenburg" in your posts titles. Perhaps it would be wiser to add "Tom Dahlenburg" using tags so the title gets more on point. I am adding it as an example, perhaps it feels more elegant or you like it more (just a suggestion).
