Hello! You all would know this work as my debut on this site, "Suite of Minimalism".

Haha I don't know this work since I joined YC much later than you. Congrats on the award and premiere! Usually minimalism is not my cup of tea but you have done an amzaing job to keep varying the timbre, texture and dynamics of the music to make this very interesting. For me your orchestral writing is mature. Sadly the recording here has some notes out of tune particularly the winds but it's so great to have your music realized here. In the second movement here that Horn in 5:30 definitely reminds the horn in the Augurs of Spring of the Rites. Actually the timbre and the polyrhythm are quite similar with that particular movement too!

Thanks for sharing Evan! Looks like this time you don't have to announce exchange of reviews since your pieces are always amazing in their own ways!

Henry

I really enjoyed this!

I liked the first movement a little better, but that might have been on a count of the performance.

I do agree with Henry about the horn in the second movement. It made me immediately think of Rite of Spring.

Nice!  Congratulations on the premiere!  Especially an orchestral one like this is a rarity!  I liked both movements, but I noticed you changed some things from the original.  The "Groove in 5/8" movement used to be first but now it's the 2nd movement and is just called "Groove!"  Why did you shorten it and change the order?  And what happened to "Philip's Time Machine"?  Really great performance though.  Thanks for sharing!

Quite enjoyable! I was engaged throughout the work.  It has a fun whimsical feel. Yes, it does a Stravinsky feel to it.

Mark

Congratulations man! It sounds 👌.

This is not the minimalism I'm used to listen here and out there on internet though. This is quite charged of content in my opinion, which isn't bad at all and you successfully manage to intertwine everything into a coherent, engaging and fanciful work. I would like to share your work here and there (including in my twitter) if you don't have any issue with that.

Thank you for bringing this here.

Kind regards,
Daniel–Ømicrón.
