String Quartet in B

Featured Replies

Hi,

This piece was originally written for Flute, Violin, Viola, Double Bass.   I think it sounds better as a String Quartet.

The score needs a little cleaning up.

Anyway, thanks for listening.  Comments are always welcome.

Oh....If anyone can tell me how to name this piece I would be grateful.   I called it a Quartet, but that doesn't really fit (does it?)

It's delicate and warm but I started to lose interest because it never seemed to move away from B major. If it did, it returned quickly enough that I missed it. I also felt more variation was needed in the thematic material and a change of accompaniment here and there. My last point is the lack of dynamic variation. (There are no dynamic in the score - admittedly you say it need a bit of a tidy up. Add in some slurs too.) So for a 6 minute piece in a diatonic key there's no climax or build up. The one good / interesting feature is the ending!

A few modulations, some development, more variation in the dynamics could turn this into an engaging piece. It has much potential.
