New Piano Work -Free and Easy

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Here's my new piano composition "Free and Easy".

A short waltz like melody ....

Hope you enjoy the work.

All comments always welcome.

Hey again @MJFOBOE,

I like the simplicity of this one.  It is a breath of fresh air.  It is deceptively simple because the harmony is constantly contradicting itself between modal mixtures which are very affecting and romantic sounding to me.  More please!  Thanks for sharing.

I agree with @PeterthePapercomPoser, the simplicity and use of borrowed chords is refreshing. I don't know your story, but you seem like one of those more advanced composers that's confident enough in their work to know it's good without having to add a bunch of complexity in an attempt to impress. There's something nice about simple but effective pieces. I would listen to this.

Thanks the compliment.  🙂  Am I an advanced composer?  That is an interesting question.  From the point of view of longevity - yes ... I been composing for 20 years or so.  From the aspect of a formal education - probably not.  For me the score sheet is a puzzle/structure to be filled/built; hopefully with interesting ideas and melodies.  I compose for my own enjoyment and not to impress.  Although, as all artists I do crave the compliment and recognition on a work well done!

Once again - thanks for the kind words.
