Bass Trombone Concerto Sketch

Featured Replies

Everything after the introduction is just a blueprint. All the material is here, I just need to expand on it. This piece will only be 5 mins long. Let me know what you think! Also, glissandi don't work with tremelos, so the playback is a bit broken.

The sonorities and orchestration remind me of Star Wars.  Towards the end the material sounds more original and like you're finally coming into your own substance.  The dissonance in the beginning and the way you use the bass trombone sounds very foreboding and cinematic.  The way you use the percussion as canonic imitation to the trombone's motifs also reminds of Star Wars.  I can imagine some scene of a city filled with guards before the hero infiltrates it.  The material at the end is really nicely orchestrated with the repeated brass notes swelling and receding giving a great impression of transcendence.  Looking forward to hearing the complete version!  Thanks for sharing.
