The Dictionary Of Obscure Sorrows Pt.1

Featured Replies

énouement- "The bittersweetness of having arrived here in the future, finally learning the answers to how things turned out but being unable to tell your past self."

Please let me know how this turned out! My goal is to eventually have a composition for each of the "obscure sorrows."

Hello @Loctobers!

This definitely has a bittersweet flavor to it but with a certain edge or mathematical precision.  I say that because this music reminds me of the score to "A Beautiful Mind".  The vigorous ostinati are probably partly to blame for that.  Although they do not continue throughout the whole piece letting the ear have some respite.  It is still quite minimalist in its approach however.  I like how you extend the musical ideas in the piece through augmentation towards the end.  There's a sudden sense of peaceful resolution - like things are exactly the way they're meant to be.  I love the thickly voiced strings fade-out at the very end.  I think the piece portrays exactly what you meant to so congrats!  Thanks for sharing.
