MJFOBOE Posted September 7 Posted September 7 (edited) Hi all, This is the arrangement of my children's song Sing It Loud for SATB (previously posted). I usually do not compose choral works (Although - I have a few) so all comments/feedback especially the engraving is appreciated. So all you choir people - let me know what you think. MJFOBOE Posted September 9 Author Posted September 9 (edited) For fun, I put a .PDF of the score in Microsoft's Copilot (AI) and asked for an analysis - it gave me a complete review of the work. It was kinda cool ... brought to my attention a couple of measures needing improved counterpoint etc. As well as general info on composing for SATB. For the most part it gave me a decent review. What a world! Mark PS: For those interested here's the work with some improved counterpoint. PeterthePapercomPoser Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Hey Mark @MJFOBOE! I love this song! I love the words, key changes and counterpoint between the various different voices of the choir! It'll probably be a lot of fun to sing for any future choir that might undertake a performance! Great job! The only thing that bothers me is a little nit-pick about how you notated the following rhythm: The right hand of the piano should be a dotted quarter note tied to an 8th of the following compound beat (beat 4 in 12/8), to group the 8th notes properly in their groups of three. Thanks for sharing and once again, bravo! (I liked the original song too but I think this one is even better) Quote
MJFOBOE Posted September 10 Author Posted September 10 I am so pleased you enjoyed the work!!!! I'll correct the oversight .................. Mark 1 Quote
MJFOBOE Posted September 13 Author Posted September 13 Just a quick update ... Met with my mentor ... improved counterpoint (one measure had parallel 4ths in the sopranos/altos for example) ... improved voicing/harmony in last 2 measures ... and reworked the piano line .... One has to be patient! Mark Will post again when the work is finished! Quote
MJFOBOE Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago For your interested ..... improved harmony, better support for the singers, removed parallel motion, some tweaks in the piano score. Here's the finished version .... MP3 Play / pause JavaScript is required. 0:00 0:00 volume > next menu Sing It Loud 9-25-25 > next PDF Sing It Loud 9-25-25 1 Quote
