Semi-young composer joining :)

Hiya,

I am Marissa, 35, joining by invite from Peter.

I've been composing since my teens, but haven't found any performers interested in playing my pieces for the last 18 years now (until I met Peter himself, who has kindly agreed to play the 3 last movements of a sonata I've written for solo horn).

Classically speaking, my biggest influences are Schoenberg, Bartók (eternally grateful that I got to learn piano with his Mikrokosmos), Berg, Stravinsky and Hindemith.

But I also write and record pop/rock/jazz/hop/etc music. Here, the Beatles, White Stripes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz and My Bloody Valentine have taught me most of what I know.

I moved from Germany to the USA 9 years ago. I live in Pasadena, CA. My other great cultural interests are the ancient Chinese board game go, as well as Ancient Greek texts.
