What is the best (free) place for uploading your music (mp3, wav etc but .mus and .sib would be good) and then an easy way for listeners to play back online (ie no download).

Thanks,

Dr Fish :-)

Soundclick is one possibility, though there are "radio stations" (which is really just a playlist.) I'm not sure if you can stop people from listing your songs on their radio stations. Even so, it would be a good thing if some of your music got exposed a bit more on the site, however small it would be.

You can allow music for download or not; they allow you to make the choice. Most genres of music are represented. I suggest that you take advantage of it now. There's a lot of illegally placed music on Soundclick at the moment, and I fear that it might get shut down. Hopefully, in a good case scenario, they'll just remove the copyrighted stuff, but you never know.

Hope this helps!

Dear dr-fish,

there are two places I use to upload files. one is Putfile - Share Your Photos and Videos for Free! - once registered you get a very simply laid out website and 25MB storage to put up your creations!! and others can't download the music I think, just press play.

or you could try freewebs.com, if you want more variation of website themes!

I may only be a snail, but I hope I have helped!

Yours truly,

Thanks for your help. I'll look into some.

i wouldn't recommend putfile, it seems to be pretty slow at the moment. Soundclick is good, fairly fast as it's streaming instead of downloading, same for myspace

Recently, I found a neat site which I love called ICompositions where people post their own soundtracks and mixes. The sound quality of the pieces is very good.

I recently started posting here. There's no limit of songs that I know of, and you can opt for your piece to be featured on the front page when you post it.

You have the option to stream and/or download songs. People can also add your song to their playlist.

I've also used soundclick, but have found this site to be much simpler to use, and it has more features.
