Debussy
Are there any good books on musical forms that are not too expensive?

Debussy
I mean more like a book about the way Brahm structures his sonatas(symphonies and chamber music) and the way he develops his themes; or how does Bruckner,Shostakovich create large symphonic forms, etc.

PianoBeast10489
Fundamentals of Musical Composition - Schoenberg has a nice section on common forms.
jujimufu
I was just about to suggest PianoBeast's book. I have it, it's very nice. And it has a large portion of the book dedicated on how to treat themes, how to develop them, the difference between motifs, themes and musical phrases and lots of other things too. And of course, it has examples from the musical literature, which is the best teaching method :whistling:
