Is video game music greater than John Cage?

Given what I have gleaned from many of the responses inside these two threads in which I participated and fought the good fight:

What is true originality (later, what music IS)

Thoughts on video game music

I'd like to know what your opinions are on whether composers of video game music are greater than John Cage or vice versa.

Of course, anyone who merely asserts based on historical references would be correct: amongst mindless academic elitist idiots, John Cage is considered "great."

But what is YOUR opinion? What music is better, video game music (includes any of your favorite musics...final fantasy, zelda, mario, mega man, whatever) or John Cage?

I'm hoping I'll get a lot of responses that say: "Are you out of your mind? OF COURSE video game music is better!"

I get the sinking feeling that I will again be derided for not bowing before the irrefutable, immortal words of music history.

well, combinig the talent of hundreds of modern compsers wich created sooo much music and left it for video games, against a single john cage.....

i must say i can't decide.... this topic is just silly you realize.... it you put like "nobuo uematsu vs. john cage" that would mean something! this way it's just silly...

i fancy john cage, and i think i'd vote him over most of video-game music makers. and i think HE IS greater, and the HIS MUSIC ISN'T unfortunately.

I've got some news for you, Derek. You weren't being derided for disagreeing with music historians and other academics. You were being derided for being grotesquely arrogant and closed-minded.

"Think for yourself." And your past posts indicate that what you really mean by that is: "Anyone who disagrees with me is either an idiot or a tool."

Forget Cage, forget vidio-games...

my vote is with jokesters that gave us the hoover preset in the Juno 106...which birthed the trance genera, that is the most amazing story...think about it, birth from a single noise that was meant to be a joke.

Seriously, I did see video games live in LA...it was truelly great.
