May 25, 200718 yr Hi Fredrik! Good and interesting melodic fragment. But the sound has not so liked me. The sound looks synthetic, IMHO

May 25, 200718 yr These pieces are really cool. Your comprehension of the 17th-century style (I assume it's the French style!) is for the most part very convincing, although there are a few moments where I'm left grappling to decide upon the tonality or structure - are they supposed to be slightly neo-classical, or do you intend to make them as historically accurate as possible?

Hi Zetetic! I tried to express some of the splendour around King Louis XIV with this free form piece. In the beginning there is a 4 part choral played by trombones, this is one of my renaissance ideas. I wanted it to sound monumental, churchlike and from another time even earlier than the baroque era. I had fun speaking about tonality when I did the French horn part which ends with a Picardian third. (tonal effect in a minor key where the cadenza ends with the tonic in major). Some ideas are neo, you're right about that. Those themes were put there on purpose. Thanks for your reply Fredrik
June 3, 200718 yr It's like a kaleidoscope! All those neoclassical fragments, being turned and falling together into new patterns, always interesting. The Sun King as viewed through an everchanging stained-glass prism! One of my faves on here, of all the ones I've heard so far. Thanks. Yours with respect Chris.

Thanks for your generous reply, sorry that I have answered so late but I just have been having difficulties keeping away from my composition pen... Two of my Louis XIV - Sunking movements have been completed and a third is in progress. Fredrik
