The Nightingale - an opera in two acts

Featured Replies

It's official: my opera is being premiered at Oberlin Conservatory in January 2008!

Congrats!!!!

You must be beyond excited! What a great honor and opportunity for you.

Hopefully, it will help to launch your career! ;)

Congrats! Is it reminescent to Stravinsky's Opera "Nightingale"?

Give me details about the Opera! orchestrations, singers, story line etc.

yes congratulations. this is a VERY exciting project.

I'd love to come down to hear it if I have time (and some spare change)... Ohio (that IS where it is, right?) is a bit of a ride for us, but it would be worth it.

Thank you all for your congratulations - sorry I didn't thank y'all sooner - my internet has been down recently.

Yes, I will keep you all posted on official business pertaining to the opera - cast, crew, orchestra, performance dates, etc.

Shepherd - I'm not very familiar with Stravinsky's "Nightingale" - though it's the same story, and I heard some of the orchestral music from his opera. My setting of the story is a bit more post-modern and confusing in its language, and the musical styles shift around quite a lot, as it's all differentiated by character.

QC - Yes, it's Ohio, just southwest of Cleveland - about a half hour. Hopefully the weather won't be awful - it is in January after all.

This sounds very fascinating....congratulations!
