A film cue of sorts

Here's a short clip for an imaginary movie about an unfortunate dreamer - the 1st scene is his dream, though I don't have that part attached, as it's not in MIDI, and I haven't finalized the recording. So here's the section after that - it's still very rough, so no controllers or balancing as of yet. Comments are much welcomed.

:00 ~ :04 - Jarring Awakening

:06 ~ :13 - Feeling Refreshed

:15 - Unfortunate Realization

:16 ~ :25 - Work Piling Up

:26 ~ :33 - Out of Control!

:34 ~ :39 - Disappointment/Scene Transition

:40 ~ 1:05 - Dealing with Depression

1:06 ~ 1:34 - Futile Resistance Against the Sandman

1:35 - Dream Transition

Haven't done pure orchestral stuff for a bit, so sorry if this is lacking a bit of polish :(.

That was great. I regret not having anything more helpful to say, but this isn't really my area of expertise. All I can say is I thought it was effective and well done. In the way of criticism, I did find myself wishing for a bit more dynamic contrast, but I gather this is still something you're still in the process of polishing it up.

Good stuff. I didn't like the melodies you put over the the chords starting at bar 29, though, they sounded a touch contrived. That doesn't mean they're not good however. The transition at bar 39 also seems a little....I dunno quite. Illogical could be the word.

Very nice work.

I think it works very well.

My suggestions are.

Each of the little scenes seems very short...

How does the work manage to pile up in 9 seconds? ;)

But you're writing to cues, so that's not really your problem.

Also, the Out of Control section did get really crazy!

But then again, that's the point.

My only real actual suggestion is that the dissappointment didn't seem disappointing.

There could have been some kind of anticlimax there.

It was just a continuation of the last section with a small change at the end.

I like your depression piece. Quite atmospheric.

My favourite was the start(first ~24 secs) though. Very nice ;)

All I have to say is: nice job. Please keep posting.

This rocks! :) Especialy the out-of-control!! totaly berzerk, but the last part wich butild up is also pure genius ! (Futile Resistance Against the Sandman that it). very short, but if its cues, then i guess they are ok.

Nice job!! :D

Thanks for the enthusiastic responses! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to live up to your expectations for the remaining parts of the piece, since I essentially did it in one sitting, having procrastinated quite some.

The first piece is another "dream" sequence, and a very disorienting and confusing one at that - structurally, the piece essentially wavers through a series of chords from the previous piece, going through progressive pitch bends and panoramic shifts, sorta like a doppler effect in slow motion - this is to represent the current dreamworld as a whole, more or less. The percussion rhythms are for the most part independent in small cells, as to represent brief lucidly objective associations of the waking world. The harp with it's melody struggling to keep up with the unceasing harmonic shifts represent the protagonist and his struggle with the dream. Or something like that, since it wasn't exactly well planned.

The 2nd piece is just excerpts of 3 themes that I haven't really had the chance to finish - the first one is supposed to play in an somewhat tense setting; the second one is supposed to be play along with the hero's self-styled adventure; the last one is for the end when the object that he desires is within his reach. Basically, just generic moment themes, and genericly written as well. Oh well.

Anyways, here are the audio files:
