  1. Hello, I composed a piece in the ragtime style. It took me a lot of effort to get it performed by a human being. I hope you enjoy it! https://youtu.be/GQ0SAc5q0zM
  2. I think it's quite clear from the overall look and sound that you're going for something more adventurous than a pure Baroque Allemande, with lots of nice chromatic harmonies. It worked very well! The tempo and dynamics you've chosen here gives the piece a sort of tranquil, nocturne-like feel. I really like it. A few minor objections here. The first is that the ending is unconvincing: the final bar sounds like it began in C major. The second is that I feel like an Allemande should have an unimpeded semiquaver rhythm throughout (excluding the opening and closing bars). It's one of the defining characteristic of an Allemande to me and I start to lose that sense if the semiquavers are interrupted.
  3. The work has some lovely moments; however, it's languid movement I believe could use some moments of tension and resolution. Mark
  4. Thank you Daniel and Tónskáld for your detailed analysis, will pass your feedback to my son to incorporate them in his next composition. He normally does solo composition and often creates melodies and practices on Piano without writing in sheet music. He has started taking interest in compositions involving multiple instruments. Your feedback will help as he is not doing any music classes and my advice is limited to basics like mood or tempo of the music. School summer holidays are coming up and he will get time to put his compositions into sheet music.
  5. Hi all! Here is the Scherzo and Trio from my Baroque Suite WIP (think of it less as a Romantic contraption, and more as a pair of Bourrees). The Trio is a canon at the fifth over a free bass, and the Scherzo is a standard binary dance following an aria ritornello shape. In particular, the Scherzo is written with orchestral textures in mind (something like a flute + strings). Is this what you actually hear?
  6. Take that, John Cage!
