  1. Vaguely :P Umm.. Basically I know that a mass is generally sung as a ceremonial thing. The Requiem is similar to a normal mass but it has 2 movement removed and the Dire Irae is added into it. Also I've read somewhere that some Requiems were composed with the intention of being a concert performance rather than a mass for the dead. o-o Edit: I've been reading sites such as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requiem http://members.optusnet.com.au/charles57/Requiem/lyrics.htm http://en.allexperts.com/q/Classical-Music-2272/Requiem-Structure.htm http://www.windofkeltia.com/requiem/ before I started on composing the Introit, and I've listened to Mozart's, Cherubini's and Brahm's Requiems before hand as to see what a Requiem sounds like. However, I didn't really go into depth with there pieces like analysing etc. into great detail.
  2. Hey guys :D I'm trying to write a Reqiuem piece at the moment, (partially for my interest and partially cause it's going to be for my exam work thingy I have to do at school). Anywho, at the moment I'm not really sure how I should go about in the piece and I was wondering if you guys would offer some tips, suggestions on what I should do next. Also, I would like to know if I'm on the right track or if I'm making the wrong mistakes since I'm fairly new in composing in this sort of style :D Introitus idea 5 part 10.mid
  3. Ello. Some time ago, I posted some random topic about the forms of sonata or something. Anywho, I've started working on it and I'm stuck :o! Would anyone like to give me some feedback/criticism on what I should be doing, what I shouldn't be doing etc. :D It's in mid format since I don't really know how to make it into pdf file >_>... Also, there isn't any expression marks etc since I'm just focusing on the notes at the moment though :o Edit: http://evanomusic.hostoi.com/Music/Sonata%20No%201.mid <--- To download Dx The random upload thing doesn't seem to be working for me >_>
  4. The first link is a goodie :D I've seen it like 3 years ago and it still never gets old :) The second was fun to read though :o In fact, most of the rules on there were stuff that I was already following subconciously ;)
  5. Wow... Thanks guys :D I'm suprised in the amount of information you guys have given me :o I wasn't expecting that much but wow... Thanks again :D And yea, I've been analysing on Beethoven's Sonata's especially his Pathetique and Tempest Sonatas.
  6. Hey guys, I've been doing some research lately on sonata writing for the piano since I thought I might compose something completely different to what I generally compose. Anywho, so far, I've read that a sonata (sonata-allegro) would contain 3 movements (fast, slow, fast) and that sometimes they have an introduction. In the first movement, the movement generally consists of: - Exposition - Development - Recapitulation The question I wanted to ask is, do the 2nd and 3rd movements follow this form too? and if not, how do I go about composing the 2nd and 3rd movements of the sonata?
  7. I started off taking requests for people on forums such as GMC, Kongregate etc. Also, you can visit sites such as Gamedev and onrpg and look for team requests :D
