Sam is a high school composer who currently lives in Shanghai, China. He has studied under Tan Dun, Libby Larsen, Dr. Robert Brownlow, and Paul Coleman. Recent and upcoming performances of Sam's music include "dolphin song" for piano trio at the Eastman School of Music (subsequent performance in Hong Kong), "Centennial Celebrations" for symphony and chorus at Shanghai American School, "Cimmerian Variations" for string orchestra at the 2012 APAC Orchestra Festival, and "Waters of the Yangtze" for unaccompanied mixed choir at the Eastman School's precollege division in 2013. Sam is also the 2nd Prize Winner of the Project21 Prize for Composition from Oklahoma City University. He is currently working on a piece for a flute-violin-piano trio to be performed in January of 2013 commissioned by pianist Sharon Kaufman.
