  1. Im studying Chopin's preludes. Im not going to play them all because some of them are difficult for me (like No. 8 in F#) but i want to study all of them.
  2. I totally agree with what you just said. The way i see it, the synthetizer/computer is a GREAT tool. You can compose for a rythm section or orchestra or whatever and actually listen to what you write in a set of speakers and not just in your head. On the other hand, you can create any sound not found in nature and that is just amazing. It expands the possibilities and let's us experiment without frontiers. i.e. Edgar Varese's "Poeme Electronique" would not have been born without electronics. As Wolf_88 said, "It CAN harm the quality of music if used inproperly, but then again accustic instruments can do the same".

    Try Asturias from Isaac Albeniz
  5. I practice minimum 2 hours a day with my piano. I try to practice 3 but sometimes its not possible with school and stuff. On weekends i try to practice 4-5 hours a day. I try to practice articulation, phrasing, scales, jazz chords, improvisation. Besides the instrument, i have to study other musical disciplines like ear training, harmony, etc. I'm not very good at sight reading and that is what i would want to practice a lot more (I barely practice sight reading). As for composing it's really a matter of having the time to sit and write, and a fresh brain willing to create something interesting so i need to be relaxed. I do not create music daily but i try to, several times a week even if what i'm writing is not good.
  6. This one is good xD. What about chord rules/restrictions?
  7. i have mp3 but i don't know where/how to upload them. if you want, PM your msn to me and i'll send the files via msn.
  8. i have some prehispanic (Aztec culture mostly) music :excl:

Very similar situation here in Mexico. I do believe piracy is wrong, but i also believe some kinds of software are way too expensive if you don't live in certain countries. I use Sibelius and the student edition is worth 3 months of my rent.
  10. My favorite composers are: - J. S. Bach - Fredrick Chopin - Gy
  11. Hi. MIDI controllers do not have built in sounds, nor sound generators so you can't hear the thing by itself. You need to connect the controller to another device (your PC, a sampler, a synth, etc) via MIDI so that device can play/generate/whatever the sounds you need. MIDI is only data so what the controller does is send data to another MIDI device that receives that data and based on that, plays some sounds with specific pitch, effects, etc. First of all you need to connect the controller to your PC via USB or via MIDI. I think this Fatar TMK-88 controller does not have USB output, so you must connect the controller's MIDI OUT to your Yamaha MIDI IN in your PC. The other thing you have to do is get a MIDI software that can receive this MIDI data and play the sounds you want, save your MIDI sequences, etc. Most of them do not require any advanced configuration other than selecting your MIDI input device. There is a lot of software that can do this available on the net in demo versions so you can try them out. If i were you, i would download demo versions of Cakewalk and/or Fruityloops and see if they can fit in your needs. There is also sheet music software that can do this like Sibelius. I don't know Finale but i assume that it can get the job done too. Fruityloops - flstudio.com Cakewalk - cakewalk.com Sibelius - sibelius.com Finale - finalemusic.com I hope this helps.
