The Healing Process
Great work, Jared. I think that what some are considering to be a "limited" use of harmony is actually what makes this piece. Simplicity is something that academic types tend to be scared of, sometimes you just have to sit down and write beautiful music! Thank you for doing just that. All the best, Casey

East West Software?
I'm totally new to the world of sample libraries and things like that. Is there a good website I can go to that could explain it all to me? Do you compose through a program like Finale and then just play everything through the sample library? Thanks!

DUET COMPETITION
I'm in.

Conceptual Music Competition 9: Step Back into the Light (RESULTS!!!)
So, I was wondering who does the judging for this competition?
-
Step Back Into the Light
Nevermind. I got it. Thanks everybody! I really wasn't trying to pull a fast one on anybody.

Step Back Into the Light
Argh, how do I remove it now that it's up there?

Step Back Into the Light
I definitely am not looking to get any pointers for the competition. I just wanted some feedback in case in a future date I'd like to work on it some more. I hope he doesn't disqualify me for wanting feedback, yikes. I didn't even think about how it must have looked. When Abadoss said to send it to him in a private message, I honestly thought (this being my first time uploading anything here) that he meant to send it through a thread. Should I pull it down now that I sent it to him through e mail?

Step Back Into the Light
This is the first piece I've uploaded onto the site. Thanks for everyone who checks it out and gives suggestions. I'll put it back up after the competition. Sorry!

Symphony No. 1 in D - Mvt 1
Really great work. I enjoy your melodic approach and appreciate that you don't try to use dissonance everywhere just because people think you should. I look forward to hearing the Symphony as it progresses.

Objectivity? and transcriptions from the head..
I don't think being able to transcribe is the norm for composers. Nor do I think it should even be anything more than a point of interest about a composer. Maybe Mahler could memorize and instantly recall music his whole life, maybe Beethoven couldn't. It's all about how you compose and your ability to learn from those great masters, in my opinion.

the most famous "melody"
I'd have to agree with Anders and say that the most famous would be Happy Birthday. The most famous "melody" from repertoire might be Ode to Joy though, in my opinion.
