  1. Sorry to drag up an old topic but this is incredibly, incredibly short-sighted. Listen to Spawn of Possession or Timeghoul and realize how incorrect your stereotypes are.
  2. Something I'm struggling with in my compositional practices is creating a more "natural" and evolving piece, that utilizes long phrases instead of a traditionally more pop-influenced short (meaning the number of bars, in this case) measure melody. I'm trying to break away from this habit and understand how to keep a piece moving and flowing, not rigid. What are some materials that I can study, or techniques that I can apply in a pragmatic fashion?
  3. Here, I'm doing a bit of a group "chain-composition" and I completed my entry, it is relatively short, ambient and has a score feel to it: LINK! Check it out.
  4. I started on this earlier today, I plan on finishing it but I wanted to show everyone what I have completed so far. Send big files the easy way with sendspace. Files too large for email attachments? No problem!
  5. Well I suppose some of us have differing opinions on how to communicate criticism. I said earlier that I am not ever undersivingly cruel in a review or critique, but if I have an honest opinion I will voice it, even if someone's feelings may get hurt. I don't believe in 'softening up' your opinion just to spare someone a tear, but I don't believe in outright attacks either.
  6. Perhaps you have personal issues that you need to solve, then. Not everyone will get their spirits crushed by a few words, in fact I think most people can take criticisim very well. I'm not going to stop just because someone can't handle it. Now that doesn't necessarily mean I am harsh, I am honest with my opinion, not cruel. I won't tell people to give up or that they fail at life or anything like that, I will tell them how I trule feel about their work.
  7. I see nothing wrong with criticizing anyone's works. If they display them to the public to view they should fully well expect it. Why should I have to hold back my opinions on something just because someone is too sensitive and will get their feelings hurt?

Thanks for all the comments people! I plan on doing an EBM cover of Europe's "The Final Countdown" next!
  9. Sort of pop-trance with a disco bass groove and jazzy rock drums. http://coryrichards.ceroprojects.com/Music/Cory%20Richards%20-%20The%20Lab%20of%20Dr.%20Light.mp3 I like it

Cool, thanks! I don't use FL though, only the standalone Sytrus VSTi from Image-Line. I may tweak the sounds a bit later on, when I am not so busy with school and my other two jobs.

    No it is a synth.

Oh well, not a big deal I guess. This piece has more of an electronic foundation than the others, so I felt it appropriate.

I was trying to keep the ideas to a minimum, while providing a certain atmosphere. Overall I am pretty happy with this piece. Thanks to everyone for all of the positive comments,, much appreciated. On the Jazz/Chamber Orchestra idea... I'm not so sure the koto and tablas are really associated with those genres?
