I agree with you JC92488 on the observation that people are still sounding like the classical composers in certain ways. Although I think it is extremely important to have a good background in the classics and not completely rejecting music theory, I think it is good to move on while still having past influences , like some did with minimalism and things that break the rules. I am not insulting classical at all of course, it is just nice to experiment.
Sorry, just any advice about it would be fine, the actual compositions ( length, what you are trying to show), organization, anything pertaining to application. I know it still sounds kind of vague, but if you have any advice or examples about the procedure.........
Do any of you have advice on the application process for a major in music composition? I know the requirements for the colleges, but everything seems somewhat vague. Thanks.
