  1. hi! Thanks for the reply... the piece is meant to be simple (that's why I used only I, IV, V).. unfortunately, i lost the score and i'm too tired to write it again... i will, at some point. as for the name... it's how I call "my better half"... and the piece was made for her...
  2. Hi everybody, I'm not really a composer, I just try to learn a bit about music and composing... so please be gentle. This is only my second song... unfortuately I don't have a sustain pedal for my keyboard and had sustain 'on' all the time (+ some reverb), but other than that I would love to hear what you think... Here's the little song: tmp.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage thanks.
  3. oups, sorry if i posted in the wrong section (i think it would better be in the incomplete works section, yes).... robertn: you're right ;) the starting piano isn't exactly what i had in mind, but i'm not that great with sibelius.. hence the clarinet is also where it shouldn't be, i didn't mean the solo to be played by clarinet in the firstplace, especially since i know little about the instrument itself (but i presume they DO need to breathe from time to time :D)... initially i had a violin playing that part, but i thought it doesn't stand out among the two cellos so i added clarinet (althought, actually i wanted an electric overdrive guitar to play that but couldn't find such instrument in sibelius). i hope to get the energy and (more important) time to improve this, i don't like the ending either (and i also don't like that it ends too quickly, before finishing the story it has to say) as for the title, it's not the song's title since it doesn't have one yet (i don't have yet a name for the 'mood' i was in when i had the idea to open up sibelius after playing around with the guitar for a while and that 'mood' should be the song's title)... the best translation for the title would be "elsewhere" or "in another place"... hmm, now, if i think of it, it's a good candidate for the song's title .. especially since the romanian 'aiurea' could also mean 'out of order' sometimes (or 'in the wrong order') :) thank you very much for your feedback.
  4. after a (very) long break, i've managed to get in the 'composing mood'... it's just an idea, i don't know if i can or want to continue it... and it's only my 3rd attempt at composing music so be gentle ;) here it is: aiurea.mp3 p.s.: i'm glad i'm back to reading these forums.
  5. Thanks everybody for your encouragement and advices... Yes, nikolas is right, I took the piano part and divided it among instruments and then tried to alter a bit to add some counterpoint (but I just started learning music theory and I'm not very skilled in that yet). I will post more stuff, I have lots of ideas running around in my head... but for now, for my level of knowledge (and especially because I'm not a music student and I have a dayjob which keeps me quite busy), I can't approach bigger(longer) works.. I guess that will come, with time. Thanks.
  6. Took me a long time to get currage to post... so here it is. The piece is called 'tiny waltz', I wrote this on the piano while trying to learn how to write a waltz, then transferred to sibelius and arraged it for strings. It's quite short, but it's my first attempt at composing something. Here it is: valsulet.mp3 Be gentile with me :whistling:
