Impromptu No.1
Hi Thomas, Great Piece, lovely atmosphere too. My only complaint is that the left-hand does get a bit monotonous except for the brief chordal interludes. Akhil G.

String Quartet Nos.1 & 4 (Op. 7 & 10)
- String Quartet Nos.1 & 4 (Op. 7 & 10)
I agree with the fact that the counterpoint is Incorrect ....... and have been in my works untill Op.22........ but I doubt that a highly trained ear (like mine) and proper methods of composition I employ would ignore incorrect harmonies (if any), there could be a possibility you're reffering to the development, where there are some Cynical harmonies (Eg:Schubert's 4th Symphony - Last Movement - 2nd theme), definitely not incorrect . Do keep in mind the phase of composition it was written in !! Akhil G.- Scherzo in Bb minor
Hmmm..... I don't quite care much for atonal music either. Now about the title of the Piece to Quote Schumann referring to Chopin's Scherzos - "How is gravity to clothe itself if jest goes about in dark veils?" ........ I certainly think that settles it. Akhil G.- Favorite Piece of Music
I'll agree with Mr.Graham on this one - It does change daily, It's very hard to say "Here's my Favourite Piece of Music" but for Now, I'll go with Tchaikovsky - Violin Concerto . (I'll probably post another favourite tomorrow - which reminds me - Merry Christmas People. Akhil G.- String Quartet Nos.1 & 4 (Op. 7 & 10)
Hi Everyone, Firstly, for tomorrow - Merry Christmas ! I was updating my Catalogue and I came across these Quartet's I had almost forgotten about. I'm posting My first Quartet Ever (String Quartet No.1 in C Major - Op.7) - Only 3 movements - Not too spectacular & String Quartet No.4 in B Minor - Op.10 - It's ok ...... not very well structured. Written in July & August 2004 respectively, these were written in my 5th & 6th month(s) of composition - a time when I was still finding my "Compositional Voice". Cheers !! Akhil G.- The meaning of music
I see Blue for D Major & Red for D Minor. Whereas for B Minor it's definitely Black or Grey. A Major - One would think the key of love would be Red but I don't see it. So yeah D & B are the only keys I ascociate colours with. Akhil G.- Grieg Lyric Pieces for piano
"Erotikon" Op.43 No.5 - Written in 1886 "Wedding Dat at Troldhaugen" Op.65 No.6 (1897)- For it's light mood, & because it's the 1st Grieg Piece I heard. Originally Written under the title "The Well-Wishers are comming" in honour of the 50th Birthday Celebrations of a family friend, but memories of his own silver - wedding anniversary a few years earlier prompted Grieg to change the title. For me these sum up Grieg's compositional nature - DREAMY Akhil G.- Op.48 Etude No.7 in F# Minor
hm....... Thanks Mattzurka, well all the etudes in this Op. are some sort of "Presto" so they're all rather swift. But thanks for atleast referring to the piece itself. Akhil G.- Who is the Greatest (Not Favourite) Composer
That's a fantastic Idea.- Op.48 Etude No.7 in F# Minor
Hi Nico, Thank You for your Compliments. I usually never write things I can't play, unless, as in this case, I'm asked to write a set of Etudes for a specific pianist of great virtuosity. My teacher can actually sight read anything I write, even 5 - 6 part fugues. Why was it a wake up call ?? Cheers Akhil G.- Op.48 Etude No.7 in F# Minor
Hi Everyone, I took a little break from this set of etudes at the half - way point and now I'm back at it. So here's No.7 Akhil G.- Favourite 5 Piano Concertos
I HAVE A NEW TOP 20 Beethoven 4 Beethoven 5 Medtner 1 Henselt Op.16 Alkan - Concerto for Solo Paino (Op.39) Schumann A Minor Beethoven 3 Grieg - A Minor Brahms 1 Hummel A Minor - Op.86 Tchaikovsky 2 Hummel Op.89 - B Minor Tchaikovsky 1 Arensky F-Minor (Op.2 ??) Stenhammar 1 Mozkowski Op.59 E Major Brahms 2 Stenhammar 2 Rachmaninov 3 Alkan - "Concerto de Camera No.2 in C# Minor - Op.10 Nr.2" People would complain If I put my second Piano Concerto on that list. Akhil G.- Who is the Greatest (Not Favourite) Composer
Does Anyone Care to Vote furthur ? Or should we just accept Beethoven as " The Greatest Composer " ?- Etude #1
Don't belittle yoursely. Why don't you expect a masterpice to come out of you ? Listening to the 1st bar of this new piece I would say "Minuet" - If you want a definition based on meter. Then it goes on to lose it's " Minuet " feel because you've got accompaniment in flowing quavers as opposed to crotchets marking the beat. I'd probably go with Minuet disregarding what I just said before. Akhil G. - String Quartet Nos.1 & 4 (Op. 7 & 10)
