  1. Piston's book is not a good choice. The most agregious thing is that he says not to use lowercase roman numerals. I would recommend Kostka and Payne's "Harmony" or Stephen G. Laitz' "The Complete Musician."
  2. Come on, man. I can see why you hate academia: you rely on anecdotes to bolster your weak point. This is a pedestrian error in argumentation.
  3. No offense, homie, but you wouldn't survive very long in a philosophy program. I think you're trying to handle thinking that is beyond your current grasp because you're demanding things that - especially to the analytic - are fairly pedestrian. Nevertheless, good luck. I am reading.
  4. Do you not have a private piano instructor? There are many technical difficulties in a Liszt etude that will not be fixed simply by merely slowing down or by using a metronome. You're not going to be able to tackle a Liszt etude using the advice of a forum. And if you are trying to, I'd suggest seeking out some private instruction.
  5. Your posts never contribute anything but bullshit. You don't seem to know the first thing about the history of the mass. Have you ever attended? Homer Ulrich's "A Survey of Choral Music" would do you wonders. Needless to say, your view on the mass historically and currently is nonsense.
  6. Fux sucks. Abandon that book. Much better options out there.
  7. Most people can do this. Tests at Stanford University have shown people get within 95% of the key of most pieces/songs.
  8. A two-octave range from G3 to G5 is NOT a baritone. In fact, that's not even close. In choral music, G3 to G5 fits the EXACT definition of an alto range. Are you just throwing scraggy out there and hoping something will stick? Seriously, lol, you've never heard his voice but you're suggesting he needs a darker timbre. What if he is swallowing his vowels and needs a wider, brighter timbre?
  9. Noel Gallagher's music has been listened to by millions upon millions. Oasis packed Wembley Stadium twice in a row. Don't hate on solid contributors like myself.
  10. Thom Yorke/Jonny Greenwood certainly are famous. Noel Gallagher (Oasis) is up there, too. Stephan Jenkins wrote "Semi-Charmed Life". That counts for something.
  11. John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls) Fergie (Black Eyed Peas) Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) At leasst within the last decade or so.
