  1. What's this for?
  2. :) I was inspired by Ravel's String Quartet Critique is fine, I'm sure I did some ridiculous things here.
  3. This is my first time writing a string quartet. It's a little short but I think it conveys what I wanted to express. Please tell me what you think. Enjoy http://studiodao.com/neoarchive/String%20Quartet%20Scherzo.mp3
  4. http://longebane.aoikokoro.net/coleman/Sunshine%20Creek_2.mid I was just going along, composing as usual. And it hit me that what I was composing sounded so asian. I know that'll happen if I worked on a pentatonic scale, but I didn't consciously pick the pentatonic scale. I Was just working on the major scale, and somehow I picked only the asian sounding notes?? Now the sound itself is great, but I want to know what I'm doing that's making it sound like this. And how I'm to avoid it, for future songs that wouldn't work with this sound!
  5. Hey guys, it's been a while. Most of you probably don't even remember, but anyways, after months of on and off working, I've finally come up with a finished version of my orchestral piece. I have completed the song at 7:07, and the mp3 is quite hefty, at 10mb. That should scare away all the dialup users. But I believe the download is worth it either way. Enjoy guys~ http://longebane.aoikokoro.net/archieve/Flames%20of%20the%20Impenetratable%20Hearte.mp3
  6. This is a short piece illustrating some sort of prelude to a battle or skirmish. 1. Techniques used I used some techniques I knew. I tried to avoid tension and intensity, as for a prelude it would be unnecessary. 2. How long it took to compose the piece I don't remember. Started near the end of 2004, then picked it up much later. 3. Structure of your piece I begin with cello and timpani, then build up to a near constant rhythm throughout the song, with no climax. 4. Obstacles when composing Don't remember obstacles. I just went with it. 5. Summary of overall piece I think the mp3 took a lot longer to make than the composition itself. Probably because all the tweaking and such to get it right. I think the song definitely conveys a pre-battle them. 7. I like the midi better than the mp3. It just seems a lot more pleasant and positive as midi.
  8. Listening to an older work of my own, I decided to create a similar texture to a new song. The words Reverse and Rivers sound very similar, and you can even make them sound the same with minimal accent. The title also alludes how this song might flow. 1. Technique Used I've tried to reuse a lot of techniques I've utilized from the previous song I made (never released) working in D minor. http://longebane.aoikokoro.net/archieve/Reverse%20Rivers.mp3
  9. Ive been playing around with different styles, trying to come up with a song that would be suitable for a battle that has multiple tones. The whole process took 6 months of on/off work, and the song has greatly evolved over the months. One of the greatest challenges was to increase the length of the song, because I was stuck at many points. Well here it is. I'd gladly tweak the song at any parts that are weak, if you can point it out (one minor issue I do notice thus far is the volume is a bit low). http://www.aoikokoro.net/longebane/archiev...de%20Battle.mp3
  10. It's 1 in the morning and freezing in my room. Shivering, with blankets around me. I decided to make a song that reflects my current mood (though it's not snowing. No way will that happen where I live). I added a percussion line to create a march, as though you were marching through snowy mountains. It's a short piece, and I intend to add a climax. I'll have to work on this when the temperature goes up though. http://www.aoikokoro.net/longebane/archieve/Snow%20March.mp3
  11. Can't you just export the midi-out information onto a mid?
  12. Erm, I don't think soundfonts will pull that off. Gigastudio samples are like Xgb, while soundfonts are a few mb. You'd need a lot of articulations to have a realistic sound, which soundfont just can't handle. I'm not saying there aren't good soundfonts, but you will defintely know a song is not live, no matter how much reverb or eq you put in it. Quality = $$
  13. I love how your songs sound so alive, notably "Walk on a sunny day". I didn't really like "A last war" though. The rhythm gets very repetitive quickly, which doesn't flow too well for a dynamic type action song. And after a while, all I can hear is that annoying rhythm. I can't even hear anything else going on cause I'm so annoyed.
