  1. An older piece I wrote about a year ago. I have no idea on what the intentions were behind it. But nonetheless I can remember that I used 7/8 exclusively and also bi-tonal writing as well in one part of the piece. Classification Sonar.sib Classification Sonar.pdf Classification Sonar.mid
  2. A string Orchestra piece that I first wrote out in four part harmony last week intentionally using 2nd inversion chords in the first part of the piece. As the composition progress's near the end I put more emphasize on more of a modern writing style such as built up chords and fingered tremolos. The Solo Cello in the piece would be played by the second chair cellist that is why it is above the cello section and not above the string orchestra. The piece is just about long walks around the cities I live and the beautiful wild life in the morning. :) The Walk String Orchestra.sib The Walk String Orchestra.pdf The Walk String Orchestra.mid
  3. As said the material is too short. Also the piece doesn't seem to have any contrast making it hard to follow. What I suggest is going through the piece and making easier leaps for the 2nd violin and first violin. The Bb is typically very high but can be played on the violin.
  4. With this song I quite enjoy it really does have a mathcore feel to it. The laid back chill part at the end of part 1 is very a keen to the style as well. The second parts dissonance is very compelling and I enjoy when the guitar does double and triple stops. Also the use of building up in the song as whole from going from least to best works quite well. One thing I do suggest but mainly for the first part is trying adding a little more consonance to not give the listener a headache after all the chaos with 12 tone and mixed meter. Purely out of curiousness are you able to play this?
  5. As this title suggests this piece is about a Lucid Dream, to where a man discovers he has the power to control his actions. It's starts of mellow with him controlling objects with his mind. He eventually becomes entranced by this power and takes it to the next level of greed. The Climax of the piece is when he experiments with this ability and kills another person due to his vengeance of this person in real life. The dream ends and the main theme is reintroduced as he awakens from his slumber. This song is written for an orchestra final that we have each year in the class (sadly my last for high school). I'm in a group of violinists and cellists. We decided to use electric bass, electric guitar (my part), Organ/Piano, and violins. I'm also considering if my orchestra teacher allows me to do it. Is to add in a drum part for a drummer outside the orchestra that would be willing to play it. Lucid Dream.mid Lucid Dream.pdf Lucid Dream.sib
  6. What have to say on one part of the piece is to omit the basses from singing that high d mainly because your trying to make the part of the piece piano. A lot of basses would have a hard time with it unless you would like a more head voice sound in that section. One other thing it seems like the modulation to D major in E major sounds really forced in measure how about eliminate the D# and just make that measure A Major instead. Overall a nice piece in dissonance and the way you used rhythm and style to emulate Emily Dickinson piece of literature.
  7. There was a little too much dissonance in the intro to where a first time listener would in fact stick there fingers in their ears. One thing I would suggest moving that section too the huge moment in the piece and make it the climax. I did think the part after the dissonance was quite nice with the Timpani. I suggest making an intro that is easy for the listener to get involved with or you could easily with move one of the slower sections of the piece into a rearrange it in such a manner to open the piece with. The harp is usually not able to switch tunings quickly as you have it in the piece you have to remember that. I say you do have amount of work to do on this piece to string together all the parts, and make it suitable for an actually live performance of the piece.
  8. So I figured how to do a PDF form of the piece and others to come. :D So Norby where is it too dissonant for you in certain sections?
  9. Well I'm sure I could, I just don't know how to do it in Sibelius.
  10. A piece I quite enjoy, the majority of this enjoyment comes the first section. With the horns especially. There are a few transitions spots where the piece does retain a flow, when I could obviously tell that you were going for in the piece. Overall a good piece that can always be reworked to sound better.
  11. A String Orchestra Piece I started composing in November but lost the piece to time then had time to complete it two months ago. This piece is up for consideration for me to actually publish. Whispering Clouds.mid Whispering Clouds.sib Whispering Clouds.pdf
