Harpiscord Experiment - Triplets
Hi All, Haven't written for solo instrument in a while, any advice would be great. I don't really know how to write chords so that's why its pretty absent of them. Don't know where to go with the piece either - any advice might be helpful. Thank you in advance, Kind Regards, Pravin. P.S Sorry I can't upload the MP3 version. Little Play No. 13
Hi again! Yes, I've found low register tuba and horns are the most comfortable brass sound I feel like using - but I suppose you're right - if I get in the habit of avoiding them - its only going to show in my music. Thanks for the reminder! Glad you enjoyed - I'll check out some of your stuff soon :P Kind Regards, Pravin

Little Play No. 13
Hey Alan, Thanks! I'm always really afraid of using brass because I find it such a hard sound to control, especially for harmonies, and it seems to be in a category in itself. I had some ideas though - for how I could use brass in contrast - I'll keep that in mind for my next 'little play' hehe :P Thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed! Kind Regards Pravin.

Little Play No. 13
Hi all, My first composition over 2 minutes long. Just a bit of fun - I never take these 'little plays' too seriously - dynamic markings generally missing - the score is a mess - but just a bit of fun.Tell me what you think! Speak soon, Kind Regards, Pravin. Little Play No. 13.mid

Carnivale in D
hehehe i know, well - been around town you know - different things on the plate - been writing a bit but really not posting much - kinda forget about youngcomposers every now and then!! haha i've missed you too. I've listened to a few of your pieces, I liked the instrumental mass - very baroque! but distinctly had that 'frantz' feel :) i've been pretty good! towards the end of my degree - in the middle of a big assignment - hence why I've been mucking around online! lol. Have you been posting in the melody and games section?

Carnivale in D

Carnivale in D
Hi all, long time no post - thought I'd post a nice simple melody and some easy harmonization. Could have done a bit more with some of the voices, and didn't use any dynamics. All the same, its done :P I'm writing, that makes me happy :P Please comment ! :) Kind Regards, Pravin accordion.mid

Two brief symphonic interludes
Hey all , Long time since I've posted! The one entitled 'little play no. 9' is the thing i just wrote this evening. My apologies if it sounds a little too much like the intro to ave maria, I should have thought about that more  The other one entitled 'symphonic interlude' i wrote ages ago. Neither of them actually very innovative. But any feedback, especially on orchestration would be greatly appreciated. Kind Regards Pravin. Little Play No. 9.mid Symphony Interlude in D Flat Major.mid

String Ensemble - Help with Ideas for Arranging
Hey guys, These all sounds like great suggestions! I'm checking out Telemann as we speak. Please keep the suggestions coming - another week before we begin rehearsals! Perhaps we could have in the games, challenges or competitions section who can compose the best violin only ensemble music? I can guarantee not this semester but at the beginning of next year that the winner could get performed :whistling: But yes, in terms of recording I'm not sure if we have the funds to do that :S Either way - very positive feedback everyone, thank you! Regards Pravin

String Ensemble - Help with Ideas for Arranging
Hi everyone, I have started up a String Ensemble this semester at my University, but unfortunately the only people that have expressed interest up until now are all violinists. It is unlikely that I will be able to get a full string orchestra, so I told them that I would arrange or find music that is composed for violins only. We plan to begin rehearsals in less than a fortnight and I'm stumped for ideas...My questions therefore are: Does anyone know of any famous/good/relatively easily pieces which have been composed only for a group of violins? Does anyone know, or can anyone think of, any famous/good/relatively easy pieces which would sound good if arranged for violins only? And in the event that I decide to compose music for the String Ensemble to play, can anyone tell me what the major issues will be in terms of writing violin only music - and perhaps any pointers on how to vary the timbre to actually get a decent piece out of it as a result? Please contact me immediately at pravmenon@gmail.com. Any help will be most appreciated!! I look forward to hearing from someone Regards Pravin
