  1. First off, thank you for your comment and suggestion, it's always good to get fresh view point on things, even when it isn't in odds with your own. I totally agree with you on melody and like you already quessed it's meant to be created by vocals. One of the challanges in writing a song that includes vocals ( without having almost no experience with singing ) is to be able to create enough space in the arrangement and keep the melody / lead space relatively "workable" for a singer. I really did consider turning this into instrumental project, but if give up on the vocals now, I'm almost certain not going back. It would make things easier for me, but at the same time less challenging and ultimately it wouldn't contribute as much to my musical 'developement'. I would really appriciate a singers perspective, if one can be found in here. Of coarse all other view points are wellcome as well. :)
  2. Ok, I might be interested joining in for fun ( actually started writing something this in mind ), but first few questions : 1) Is it absolutely necessary to write a score to go with the song. Because unlike most people here I'm not too fond of sheet music nor very adapt writing it. Translating what i do in to a paper will take forever for me. And I use a DAW that isn't a scorewriter. I deal most of the time with mididata and audio, not really with sheet music, except in rare occasions. 2) I noticed that many of the examples provided more examples of Big Band "versions" of pop songs, and some of them had a conventional drumkit, electric bass, ect. included. So the idea is to do the same thing without leaving the constraints of symphonic orchestra? Any effects allowed? Reverb, stereo widening and EQ excluded of coarse. ( Impossible to get anything near the sound stage of a symphonic orchestra without them. )
