Minuet and Scherzo
Thanks montpellier :) I agree about the dynamics. I need to put some in. As I mentioned in an earlier post, it is hard to get the balance right in the midi file. But I will try...

Minuet and Scherzo
Thanks for replying :) I didn't realise Scherzo's were traditionally in a triple meter! Thank you for the comments though! :)

Minuet and Scherzo
Yes, it was originally meant to be a Sonatina ;) This is the original 'Adagio'. I don't like it as much as the minuet and scherzo. Boss battle theme.mid Giselle- thanks for the comments and advice! Yes, the midi file probably messed up the dynamics. I compose using Cakewalk Home Studio and it is so much effort to put in dynamics because you have to use sliders to record the dynamic changes as the piece goes along, so it's really hard to get the balance right. I attached the Adagio, but if I was going to put in a slow movement I would probably compose a new one instead of this. :D adagio.mid

Minuet and Scherzo
These are some pieces I wrote last year. There was an adagio as well but it was a bit boring. I composed it for me and my friend to play. We have tried the Minuet but without much success yet! The 'minuet' is not very minuet-like, but I couldn't think of a better name. any comments or advice? Thanks in advance. DASALT.MID LChorale.mid minuet.mid scherzo2.mid

New Material
Wow, it's really good! I agree with Mitchell that it should slow down or pause just before the allegro.

"The Great Romance"
Thank you ;) If you could try and post it in pdf format- that would be easiest (I think?!)

New Material
I'm in Southampton Youth Orchestra. We're doing Vaughan Williams 'The lark ascending' at the moment. The solo violin part is amazing! (i'm not playing it though)

Wow... I would be too scared to play a solo concerto in a concert! What orchestra are you in? (I'm assuming you are the oboist in the orchestra doing this concert?)

"The Great Romance"
It's really really nice! I can hear the Chopin influence too. It sounds very professional. I enjoyed listening to it a lot! You should get it recorded live. Do you have a score of it? I'd like to try and play it...

Wow, that would be really cool if you could get your piece performed! Would it be professionally performed? Why were you asked to write it? Sorry i'm being nosy now!

Wow, you write fast! It takes me weeks/months to write a piece because I write a few bars then lose interest/inspiration and move on to a different piece! I've got soooo many unfinished pieces! What I hate is when i've got a piece into a really obscure piece and can't get it back into the original key! That's what happened in my 'Carousel' piece, if you've heard it! Anyway, I like your piece! Persevere, it will be worth it!

It's definitely good stuff! Worth carrying on with. I think the piano accompaniment is fine on it's own- it doesn't really need an orchestral accompaniment, but that's just my opinion. The harmonies are nice and the parts go together well, maybe it needs a little more variety of rhythm and texture though? You could add a contrasting section with (for example) a faster tempo, staccato notes and a major key, then come back into the original theme again? Also, I think it would make a nice introduction to a faster piece (like the fast bit at the end)- You could call it 'Adagio and Allegro for oboe and cello' for example. It sounds very nice though! I like it lots! Keep going! :)

Piece for organ and orchestra
Hello, I haven't posted a piece for a while so I found this- I wrote it a few years ago. It was originally for Violin instead of organ, but the orchestra played more than the solo violin did so I filled out the part for organ to make it more interesting. I don't know much about organs so it may not be playable, I don't know! It's not one of my best pieces, it's a bit uneventful especially in the first half, but I did write it a while ago. It's also very short for an orchestral piece. I might make another movement at some stage. Anyway, constructive criticism would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance  C.P Ex.1a.MUS p.s. The organ might be too loud/soft/unbalanced- it's hard to get the balance right in cakewalk... organ.mid
