  1. Haha, you have to be joking >_> But anyways I had to turn up the bass, because at times it gets really soft when I like it the most (I'm a pianissimo piano player). In terms of variation, I'm horrible at coming up with chord progressions and melodies. Notice how I usually stick to Augmented Major and Minor 7th chords... and the occasional add 9 or leading chords. I guess I'm just not experienced enough; I am only just turning 18 this June. Any suggestions?
  2. Very intense song, I like the chime parts a lot. I agree, you could do so much more with them though. Great stuff!
  3. Great improvisations, building off your mistakes really does create wonders like this. I love the last 4 minutes the most, and I'm most impressed with your playing and improv skills... quite jealous really Hope to hear more, cheers!
  4. Wow, man this is some very powerful music you've composed here! I'm giving it a perfect 10, but, with no offense to the composition what so ever, the piano's release seems kind of cutty. I'd love to hear it with a tad more release, but otherwise every other aspect of this is EPIC! Keep it up, man hones:
  5. I made this ballade as one of my amazing girlfriend's birthday presents. Took me a while to put this together, and it's great finally hearing it all put together! My only problems with the song are the brass parts and the guitar, but mostly because I feel they sound too fake. Looking forward to some input :) Love is Gunna Save Us
  6. Nope no Reason (I wish...), I use my Fantom X for all patches and arranging and GarageBand for editing effects and mastering. I finally got my cast off my hand yesterday and was playing for the first time in a month and a half, yay! But I still cant play crossovers that require me to bend my thumb inward... Some day...
  7. Hey sorry for the late response, have been held up with school a lot lately (being a senior sucks). Anyways, thanks for all the positive feedback guys Black Orpheus: This does have a very similar structure as the other song you mentioned. All the Jazz 4-Sum's effects come from GB and all the effects from this song are built-in the Fantom X effects. Also, I'll post up an extended version of the song when I get my thumb back and have the time to work on a couple new parts D: (broke it skating home =/ ). Hopefully another 2 weeks of muscle/tendon therapy and I'll be playing again!

An experimental ambient and hip-hopish song I put together about a year ago. It reminds me of when you're out back relaxing, looking at and enjoy the beautiful night sky and the stars. Put this on your ipod/mp3 player/whatever and try that out hehe :)Here it is: Night Sky
  9. John, you're an inspiring song writer and very helpful when speaking about music, thanks for your help! Hehe, yah I've been thinking that myself, but whenever I bothered to change the patch and see what it sounds like I always end up putting it on some random EP and getting off task, trying to make a new bass line. I'm horribly ADD, but now that I think of it a distorted rhodes would sound nice with this :D I'll try that out! Yes, I was definitely planning this. Do you have any chord progression suggestions for a new part to solo and jam to by any chance? Otherwise, I'll have a somewhat finished product up in a few days hopefully. Again, thanks for your positive feedback and inspiring suggestions; I guess I'll be posting writers block tracks more often :) -Nick
  10. *This is a reupload of this track, old one was bugged i guess. The title explains the track, only 4 instruments are used in the song and only 6 effects (including a couple from Garage Band). It's a track as simple as can be, but I think you guys will like it: Jazz 4-Sum
  11. Thank you for all your input, John! I completely forgot to mention in the description that this song cuts off so suddenly because it's supposed to be a loop for a video game/DVD menu. All the patches used in this song came off my Fantom's SRX06 Complete Orchestra expansion. What exactly do you mean by this?
  12. Woah, man that was really trippy! You're pretty nifty with your effects and pads; I sure wish I had the professional software to implement that kind of stuff with my music  Keep up the great work! I'm looking forward to hearing more
  13. A short jazz/hip-hop/electronic experimental track I thought might be worth putting out thereHope people dig it Jazz-Hop
  14. Hey, I'm new to this Young Composers site, so hello all! My name is Nick and I'm graduating from high school this year. I've been playing piano since I was 9 and have since been classically trained. My studio currently consists of just a Fantom X8, a MicroKORG and my laptop. I use GarageBand 3 (I know... pathetic right?) for recording tracks already arranged on my Fantom to the computer. So anyways, I've been trying to put together this Funk song... or whatever it is. I don't even know what genre it could be listed as yet heheh (suggestions on that too would be nice). I feel like leaving this song incomplete would be such a waste, because I love the beginning so much (I barely know how I managed to perfect that bass line), and especially the flute solo/upright bass part. I'm just looking for any kind of suggestions and comments, like effects to apply, instruments to add/delete or change, new chord progressions, etc. All interest and help is appreciated very much! 15. A composition I put together just for fun :) Enjoy! A New World
