This is my submission to the duet competition, go here for the score.

I've been doodling things like this on my piano. So as I had to compose for this competition, I decided "why not?". I've been reading The Annotated Alice, (both Carroll's Alice books in one, with annotations and explanations by Martin Gardner), and I've been planning an opera on the story. This could well be an étude of awkward but "listenable" harmonies suited for such a queer but childish world.

Yes, I KNOW the ending's bizarre and unexpected. That's what I like to do, so pike off. :happy:

I thought this piece was absolutely wonderful you captured the essence of Alice and Wonderland. Bravo

A delightful piece - the ending seems fine to me. Quibbling, I thought in parts that the bassoon was slightly too soft compared to the piano (mp3 of course). I can see the judges are going to have fun.

Sounds very professional to me. I thought it was very well done.

Well I must say that the initial feeling of a "wonderland" idea was gotten across quite well in my opinion. Although I felt it was sort of a Happy wonderland expierence. The instruments complimented each other quite well I felt, and the harmony was a little out of the ordinary compared to your other pieces, but it still worked quite well I felt.

I don't understand. I commented on this piece the night you first posted it. So where are my comments. Are they hiding from me, or have I delved deeper into the Looking Glass then I intended?

I Think the judges are in for a treat once they begin to listen to the entries. Another well done piece.

Did anybody else just see that rabbit go running by? He was saying something about the time.

All your pieces are great, this one, is not my favorite. Im sorry. But since its a scherzo you kinda gets away with it.

Its abit absurd and abrupt at times and somehow i think this would fit in a cartoon of some kind.
