July 30, 200718 yr A little piece I completed recently; my first in a very long time. Somewhat experimental, since I did some new things in this piece I've never done before. Please, listen and let me know what you think of it. ^_^ Thanks in advance. 684 - Skyscraping.mid
July 31, 200718 yr I am curious, where have you been for the last year? I think the piece has some potential. The part that starts in measure 14+ 15 I like. The problem I see with the piece is that the right hand seems to stay in the same octave for too long. You need to vary the right hand a little more. Explore the range of the instrument. Vary the tempo of the theme a little. It is a good start but IMO still needs some tweaking.
July 31, 200718 yr Commenting as I listen. I don't make MIDI files into scores, so I can't comment with a score at hand. I loved your themes. They were very expressive. The use of the same themes while varying the harmony was very effective. As Ron says, the theme gets tiring in so high an octave, all the time. You could have explored even less tonal territories...maintain the same RH theme and use, ahem, more alien harmonies... Good work, nonetheless. I enjoyed it!

July 31, 200718 yr Great choice of words!! I guess, sometimes, not being a native english speaker helps! I am sure you understood clearly, Ron! 'Alien harmonies'...gotta compose!
August 1, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the replies, everyone. I appreciate them. ^_^ I am curious, where have you been for the last year? Been busy with school (this past school year was my busiest yet; I got myself involved in 4384092 activities, a Composition course included), among other things, such as looking for internships. I was going for a dreamy/ethereal sound in this piece, which is why I made sure not to make the melody too low. But, perhaps there's a way I could vary the range more without losing this feeling. Thanks, again. ^_^
