Film/Game theme. "Kiss Her"

This is a more recent piece. Just spawned from a basic piano theme.

I wanted it to be a about the feeling of kissing a girl for the first time.

This would be awesome for like a CSI episode when they process evidence on their high tech equipment. I liked the overall mood of the piece. Nice refreshing moments when the piano hits some chords with seconds in them.

I know it says kiss her so the idea is perhaps some romantic scene which would also work. I would add some slight variation around the end. Perhaps a change in the percussion rhythm or use a different set, or the piano theme which tends to hide in the background could also have some variation. It's up to you. Again, good work.

This was my first venture into this kind of realm. I am a big lover of moods and emotional variances in a song. Without them its just a bunch of notes. I think that is what seperates the successful composers from the average ones, strong emotional pull, along with swelling arrangements. Its not about how many notes you can cram in a song, its about the story of the song, and if the message, emotion is clear.

Since this is my second post on your works. can I be a little negative? The percussion doesn't work for me at all. Maybe if they were toned down some it might help. I like the rest of the piece and agree with Vinz.

Thanks for taking the time to crit, Rol. Can you be more specific in what you didnt like about the perc? Is it more of style thing? A bad mix? Or just uneven drums?

I think they are a bit too loud and maybe the wrong choice. I can see a high hat with brushes. I think it is the snare that just doesn't seem to fit. The bass seems fine. It would also help to vary the perc a little. When the music changes ideas, so should the perc. You got some sounds in there that I have no idea what they are.

Often times when I compose I begin with a drum line and then toss all the perc out. I don't think that is needed as much as variation and perhaps shooting the snare with a 12 gauge.

Please keep in mind that this is one mans opinion only.

My first kiss was that in fact...so you did capture the wetness of it, but, the percussive beat in the background makes the kiss feel dirty, and the music in the background gives it a sweet innocent side to it. That is what a kiss is, isn't? Especially your first. You never tell your parents because you think they won't approve and you are embarassed, because you have always been told not to, and its bad. But then you do it, and it feels like there is no one else on earth, but you still have that underlying guilt that you might get caught. Nice job capturing the moment. You did it in a way that no one else has really before.
