January 1, 200620 yr I dunno...this isn't really minimal, to my ears. Sure it all has the same idea, but there are too many changes, too quickly. Listen to some more Steve Reich to get the idea. Philip Glass is perfect for learning how to slowly develop your ideas. Also check out Michael Torke, he seems more your type. The lots going on and various changes minimalist, I call him. This piece is more irritating and repetitive than captivating and mesmerizing. And that's not the goal of minimalism. When I listen to true minimal work, I feel pulled in and almost anxious all the way to the end. Listen to Terry Riley's In C. The whole thing. Get the 1 hour 15 minute version, set that amount of time for yourself, alone, and really take it in. I've never listened to that piece and not noticed something different each time. It's just that the development moves very slowly. It changes keys a couple times, but you'd never realize it. But it never gets repetitive. Listen to some Phil Glass and you'll see what I mean, how yours is different. Check back with me after you've listened to some more minimalism. ;) (but you have a great start so far) P.S. January 1, 200620 yr Nice rhythm! I agree that it doesn't sound minimalist. But I think it would sound good if it were put into a techno soundtrack. Its a lot less repetitive than some of the techno songs out there. Sorry I don't have any real constructive criticism.

January 3, 200620 yr As a moderator, may I be allowed to suggest that if you want to proclaim arrogantly that you do it in a witty and entertaining enough way that we may be sufficiently distracted from the unmannerliness of it. The "aural gold dripping from pores" was up to snuff, but not much else. (Corollary: If you are to be adamantly anti-arrogance, do that in an equally subtle and elegant way.)

I've trained in Turkey, and I have a PhD in Audio-Acoustical Phychological Engineering. In the words of Hemenway, "To be great is to realize your own potential, and to embrace it with gratutious pride." Go read a book, perhaps you will learn something, mithius. Or perhaps you are too busy wasting your time brewing excremental musical discharges. January 3, 200620 yr Really doubt this is minimalistic (just as much as I doubt what you said about Turkey ;)) but it is a good piece of music. Hardly my style, but good nevertheless.
