RPG Game Style Pieces

Featured Replies

They aren't anything particularly special but here are a few pieces I wrote with an RPG game in mind.

Movement of the Moon -

This one I had a kind of city at night in mind.

Following a Legend -

I had a battle theme in mind for this one, fighting someone you once admired and now oppose but still respect.

Eternal Sands -

A desert theme, wanted it to sound slow and almost intentionally repetitive to give that feeling of a desert going on and on.

Sneaking -

Just a very basic sneaking theme, wanted to it sound kind of cheeky.

Anyway, see what you think. Comments welcome

;) thank you very much glad you liked

I've listened to them all at this point and just as your user name suggests, they seem very Uematsu influenced. Uematsu is a great a composer so there is nothing wrong with that. It's just, you seem a bit too influenced by him and thus, there isn't really a whole lot of originality in any of these pieces. That being said, they are still nice. I think they could fit in a videogame rather well, espically during the Playstation 1 era. I would recomend howwever trying to diversify yourself a little bit more. I am almost certain you are using the Yamaha XG player for these (I can tell because I use it too). There are a bunch of electronic sounds on there that you could experiment with. Also, I noticed your percussion seems rather basic in most of your songs. This isn't a bad thing but, as a person who usually likes to put alot of emphasis on his piece's percussion parts, I'd like to hear you try some different things. Overall, you certainly do sound like you have potential and I'll be looknig forward to what you put out in the future. Nice job.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I am a big Uematsu fan and his work does influence me hugely but I agree that I need to find other inspiration and try and make my work more original. As you pointed out percussion is my weak point and I need some advice on writing a good drum line. But I'll have a go and maybe post something a little different soon.

Well, I consider myself an alright percussion writer and I'll help you out if you need any advice on percussion.

the first one reminds my of my own style.. haha :) that means you're a good nija-composer :)

The second one lacks some harmony as for me, but since it so modern, it surely cool too.

the third one, wich is Sands, Eternal ones, it's as boring as a desert, hope you meant it to be like that :)

An the last one is gooooood as for a SNEAKING! Pizicatto is a perfect idea! :) so.. nice done, hope to hear from you more, cause you're making some nice music.

Yeah, it's good advice and I'm trying new things at the moment a bit different from my older work.
