September 4, 200718 yr After looking back at alot of my previous works, I noticed something. In all the different styles and themes I have written, there is a significant lack of battle themes and upbeat peices. So I chose to rectify this by starting this piece. It starts out pretty upbeat and somewhat battle-y but gradually gets darker and eventually loses it's upbeat attitude in favor of a more agressive one. Anyway, any feedback you guys could give would be great. Hopefully I'll finish it soon.
September 4, 200718 yr Sound chinese , like some asian showdown. Impressive, with piano, bass and percussion. I envy you so! I tried writing battle themes, but it never turned out well...
September 5, 200718 yr This is a lot more upbeat as you said, but is it the battle or the lead up to the battle? Try throwing in a little more dissonace. It may all be there and just not apparent in the midi. As usual, sibelius doesn't like the midi file so I am stuck with the midi. I like the opening alot. That is a neat little riff on the piano. Again not overpowering just right. Weird place to stop composing though..... I really don't see a lot of aggression yet.
September 6, 200718 yr Author Thank you for your comments. I've just completed this piece and have posted a thread in the incidental music forum. There isn't a whole lot of aggression in this piece, and not very much dissonance but I still think it conveys the theme of a somewhat light hearted battle well.
September 6, 200718 yr Hmm....It sounds..... like maybe.... the opening battle of an RPG? Doesnt sound like a boss fight.... or one of those regular all the time fights.... IMO it's an Opening Game Fight >:] Good job [sounds a wee bit jazzy too] >:]
